How to Choose a White-Label SEO Company

Including the parts where we are the wrong answer.

QUICK ANSWER

How do you choose a white-label SEO company?

The five criteria

Choose a white-label SEO company on five criteria: whether they will ever contact your client, whose branding appears on the deliverables and the reporting domain, whether they fix technical issues or only report them, who owns the content and links they produce, and what happens contractually if they miss a deadline.

Why price is the weakest signal

A provider charging $300 a month is generating reports and buying links, and it is the agency's name on the result when it fails.

NOT ANOTHER VENDOR CLAIM

We are not going to tell you we are the best.

Every vendor page ranking for “best white label SEO company” is a vendor claiming to be the best white label SEO company. You already know how much that is worth.

Here is a page that is actually useful, including the parts that are bad for us.

ASK EVERY PROVIDER

The seven questions. Ask every provider, including us.

01

Will you ever contact my client?

The only acceptable answer is no, in writing, in an NDA. Ask to see the clause.

02

Whose logo is on the report, and what domain does the dashboard run on?

If either is theirs, your client will find out. Ask for a screenshot with the URL bar visible.

03

Do you fix technical issues, or just list them?

Most providers only list them. An audit that arrives as a 60-page PDF of problems is homework, not a service. Ask who implements.

04

Who owns the content and the links?

You should. Some providers retain ownership of links so they can remove them if you leave. Get ownership in writing.

05

What happens if you miss a deadline?

If there is no contractual answer, there is no accountability.

06

Where do the links come from?

If the answer is vague, it is a PBN or a pay-to-publish network. Ask for five example domains and check their organic traffic yourself.

07

Can I speak to a current partner?

If nobody will vouch for them, ask why.

WHEN STEPWISE IS THE WRONG CHOICE

Sometimes the honest answer is: not us.

We turn down more work than we take on.

When we are a good fit: you are an agency or a fractional CMO, you have sold work you cannot staff, you want it delivered under your brand, and you would rather be told the truth on a call than sold to.

Situations we are not built for
You need PPC or paid social fulfilled.

We do not do it. Do not hire us and hope.

You need social media management.

Same.

You need same-day live collaboration from Australia or Asia.

We run US hours. It will not suit you.

You want the cheapest option.

There are providers at $300 a month. We are not competing with them and we would lose if we tried.

You want a provider who says yes to everything.

We will tell you when a client's goal is unrealistic, and some agencies do not want to hear that.

You need one link a month for one client.

We are built for programs across a roster, not single transactions.

FAQ

Questions agencies ask before they sign.

How do I choose a white-label SEO company?

On five criteria: whether they will contact your client, whose branding is on the report and dashboard domain, whether they fix technical issues or only report them, who owns the content and links, and what happens contractually if they miss a deadline.

What is the best white-label SEO company?

There is no single best. There is the one whose model fits yours. Ask the seven questions on this page and the answer will be obvious.

Should I choose the cheapest white-label SEO provider?

No. At $300 a month you are buying a report generator and purchased links, and it is your name on the result when it fails.

How can I tell if a provider uses PBNs?

Ask for five example placing domains and check their organic traffic yourself. If they will not name any, that is the answer.

Do white-label SEO providers steal clients?

Subcontracted agencies sometimes do, because they have their own sales motion. A true white-label partner has no route to your client and an NDA preventing contact. Ask to see the clause.
